The dosage of prednisone ranges from 5 to 60mg per day for a week,depending on the patient’s size,age,and symptom severity. Prednisone should be taken with food to avoid acid reflux and should be avoided by patients with diabetes (since it increases blood sugar levels) and by patients with hypertension,chronic heart disease,current infections,or dementia—all of which can be worsened by systemic steroids.
